Traditional feast the traditional way

A traditional feast on the banana leaf is still the custom for festivities and ceremonies.  Be it a wedding, a birthday or a temple celebration, feast on the banana leaf is a must. Customs are changing, however you will be able to find a feast on banana feast in this region every now and then.  Like there is a way to server the feast, there is also a way to enjoy the feast.  We will be only happy to find an occasion where you can enjoy such a feast among real people.  We can also show you how to enjoy a feast the traditional way!

Pristine villages

Palakkad is one of the remaining places in Kerala where you can witness village life.  Once the rice bowl of Kerala, agriculture is still considered very serious by many here.  The image shows the seedlings of Paddy, ready for cultivation.  If you are interested, you can join the cultivation or harvesting of rice in the villages.

Nature feels home!

Birds, butterflies and small animals are very comfortable around the garden.  Once a Red Vented Bulbul family even decided to raise their little ones on a chandelier inside the house.  The Aristolochia indica  in front of the house is a breeding ground for Common Rose butterfly.  You can witness to many tiny wonders of nature, if you want to spend some time around this house.

Spacious Rooms

The two attached rooms are spacious and comfortable. The well placed windows ensure free flow of air and ample natural lighting.  At a time two people can be accommodated in a room.  Privacy is ensured within the rooms.

Verandah

There is ample space in the Verandah for practice, contemplation, reading or relaxing. The cooling greenery around adds to the experience.  You can see many birds just sitting here. The squirrel family on the roof will entertain you with their gymnastics.

The Premises

The Center functions in a modern, single-storied ‘Nalukettu’ with a small, open, central courtyard. In the summer months the outside temperature may soar up but it remains much cooler indoors since the house is built based on traditional architectural principles.
